Yup its me again working hard on my assignments. And it sure doesn't help that I am on medication for my flu again. Yup its been a crazy week of endless hours in front of the pc doing my assignments. And now as I try to complete everything, I feel the medicine taking effect but my own motivation which I have no idea comes from where is pushing me hard. I got this feeling if I do not finish it on time,I might get too high and as they call it, "Chiu Stunt" and doing something crazy...
And that I guess is the beauty of doing programming. Only when you are crazy and high does weird yet creative ideas start to appear... haha...
Ok so its another boring day in the life of Kenneth. If its not cursing and swearing at the stupid errors that the C++ compiler display, its trying to figure out how to configure Oracle to work properly.
Either those or trying to kill that stupid boss with armor thicker than mine and a sword twice my height.
Yup you can guess what has been happening today. Its been a day of adventuring in the world of elder scrolls where anything and everything can happen. To a losing battle with the language monster in my assignment question paper. Why can't lecturers set question papers in proper easy to understand standardized queen's English.
Well it seems that I am not the only one who has no life this week. Even my friends' GFs have to go without their BFs this week as everyone tries to overcome these obstacles that should have been avoided if people learn to use proper English. In fact I dun even mind Singlish as long as its understandable.
Well thankfully my geekness has helped me overcome the oracle problem so I should have no problem going about doing my assignment. Not to mention that I should complete my C++ programming assignment by tomorrow night if I get my questions answered in class tomorrow afternoon.
But in other news, while people seem to have nightmares, I seem to have dreams with sad endings. Dunno how come sia... Its not scary, it did not frighten me or anything. No cold sweat as well. No waking up in the middle of the night or anything. Just your normal dream and it actually ends. Either my brain has moved onto playing sappy dramas or something. And this time I can remember who was in it and what happened. If it was narrated, it would go something like this : "As he grabbed her hand wanting to tell her his feelings, his fingers felt something round on her 4th finger..."
Wah liaos I think I better go kill more monsters and complete more quest or do more programming or something sia before it gets to me... :S

Can't remember if I posted it before last year but hey its a new year so I think I am allowed to post it again. Nice song, nice video and I think thats all I need to say. The rest you can figure out on your own.
Well its another start of the week. And with newcastle drawing chelsea with a superb display of fighting spirit to start my week, it just got better. Results were out for the saturday test. If you were in school, you would have known how high I was the whole day. Due to lack of sleep, assignment stress and so on. I was prepared to fail either way. But thankfully I did not and I got a 7.5/10. Maybe I saw wrongly but hey I am sure that it was my IC number and Student number. So anyway its 7.5 marks into the bag. Need about 57.5 more to ensure another credit to my tally.
Well been rushing my programming C++ assignment the whole day. So far so good. Did all I can and now just need to confirm with my lecturer some stuff on wednesday than I should be done by thursday morning so I can move on to my database assignment in the afternoon.
Slowly I feel my confidence is coming back. Of cos must make sure it doesn't become over confidence but hey at this stage I doubt it. Well it took 3-4 major blows from poly year 3 right up to middle of last year. Took the next half a year to slowly get back on my feet and now its slowly coming back.
Well maybe if I was stronger and was able to overcome my inferiority complex... oh well I guess the starhub free incoming was not a bad idea after all... maybe I would not be able to take the external pressure if something did happen... my own insecurities would have killed me? Now also... what if it became more than just entertainment... I am but still a poor(and rather broke) student anyway... haha... how to compete with the others... oh well...
Well either way need to build back my confidence more and at least I am more confident of my studies and school related knowledge now...

Anyway for the non geeks, it basically means that the mac is just as hackable and virus prone as the pc. Just that the so little people use the mac compared to the pc, its not even worth the time and effort for people to even bother about it. If I remember correctly, the competition had to up the prise money than people bothered to join it.
So all in all, next time some show off mac user tells you his or her mac is safer than your pc, ignore that idiot. Cos surely and truely he or she has no brains to even know what he or she is talking about.

Well finished up my geek shopping for at least this half of the year. Started with the Nokia n73 which I am beganing to like alot. And to top it up, I got for myself the cheapest top end card offering fron nVidia for my pc.
This also means that I am officially very broke. So no more retail therapy for me until the next half of the year. Thankfully I am paying back my Dad for the phone in installments and the sale of my old graphic card offset the new one by at least half.
The damage to my wallet is high but its well worth it.
Ok other than that, spend the whole evening getting my pc back online with the new card and did up the major part of my report. Gonna meet up with my classmates tmr to discuss more and hopefully I can finish it by tomorrow and start on my programming assignment and start studying for my test.
So yeah, in light of all the work I have and that my wallet went on a recent diet, a really good reason is gonna be needed to get me out of the house. And yes Elliott, pretty and cute are two different things... haha... :P
Just a quick post before I go off to dreamland. Went with my family for lunch at riverdale mall only to find out they are having jap tempura for dinner. But I already made plans to go dinner with friends. But I guess I had an equally good time out as well.
Got my screen protector for my new toy at suntec. Than it was window shopping with franics again, looking at clothes. While not up to class yet with the top range brand, I think I will settle with G2000 for now. Aimed 2 more short sleeve shirts.
Than met Elliott at creative while showing francis how he can do up his soundsystem using the decoder box and a THX set of creative speakers. Walked around the StarHub booth area at marina while waiting for Charlene to turn up to join us for dinner.
Than its off to Carl's Junior for dinner. And again I was held hostage there. This time by the chicken club meal. The burger buns were whole meal bread so those people who are looking for high carb, this is the one for you. Had a good time talking about Elliott's vision for us. Haha... if it really comes true that is...
While walking to the "durian", we bumbed into Melissa at the Sony Ericsson booth. Poor girl still had to work on a sunday night. Well all I can say is great booth and you look better without makeup lah. Well if you were there last night, I would have bought the K800i liaos.
To end of the evening, we took a walk to the esplanade or affectionally know as the durian. Took a walk along the pier area than it was off to the roof. Had a nice chat with francis about army, life and girls.

Yup, its day one without my graphic card. Sold it off this afternoon and now its back to my good old trusty acer laptop on vista. At first I thought that it will be a good thing as this way all I can play is Football Manager and I can start work on my database report without the distraction of the usual games I play.
But somehow something is still missing. I would rather stare blankly into the LCD screen at the question paper and than I am off adding oil to a potiential flame war in the forums or busy reading through how the ball is in Michael Owen's court for a return to first team soccer.
Maybe I need someone to piss me off in class to set off the motivation. Either that (I am crazy to say this) or I need something to work forward to. Something to look forward to at the end of each weekend or after all my task are done.
I can exclude chilling out now cos I have classes on saturday morning and I got church on sunday so the only day is sunday where I got classes only in the afternoon on monday. But the rest of them have to work so not fair to ask them to go chill out on sunday evening.
Maybe something I wanna look forward to that I will chiong my assignments so I got time for dinner on friday or that something special to look forward to after class on saturday?

Well nothing much to blog about for the past 2 days. Ok got lah... just that nothing interesting...
Went down to SLS on monday to change the faulty motherboard for my cousin's pc. Great service from Bell on lvl5 as usual. Even though their policy is one week one to one exchange, they still exchanged the faulty motherboard. Met Bryan there as well. Tried to poison him to upgrade to a Directx 10 card as well since I will be doing it.
Got a lift to school from Bryan and it was my database lab. The usual boring lecture and easy lab exercise followed. But my brain was more concern with getting my cousin's pc fixed up. Was just mentally going through what to do in case it was not only the motherboard which is spoiled.
Thankfully my elimination testing technique worked and I got the pc up and running again. Did 5 runs of 3DMark06 to ensure its stable. Than it was back to getting my pc back to operational status as I just did the long overdue reformat over the weekend.
My evening was spent watching soccer on the TV. Newcastle vs Arsenal @ St James Park. A rather boring match though. Newcastle as usual without proper finishing and Arsenal playing like they are looking for a draw. Match did get exciting only in the last few minutes though. Cannot wait for Michael Owen to come back.
And all this while my friends were over at New Asia One Bar hanging out... lols... oh well I am doomed to be a geek I guess... haha... :P
Today was abit more interesting I guess. Woke up late as usual as there is no class today. It seems all my tuesday classes are now on wednesday. Anyway decided to try my hand at frying egg for lunch. While its really a simple thing for most if not all people, I only managed to get it right on the 3rd try.
As you can see, only the top egg has its yoke fully intact. Think I need to practice more.
My Afternoon was spent playing Dawn of War : Dark Crusade and checking out information on the upcoming 8600GTS card due to come in next week. Still deciding between that and the 8800GTS which is in my cousin's pc which is one heck of a card for its price.
Went for my jog in the evening as usual. Wanted to jog early but I forgot to charge my nano. And it had to rain before I could get out. But thankfully the rain stopped early and I had the chance to go for my jog in a nice cooling environment. Was contemplating teaching sunday school as I got an email asking me if I wanna teach this month which is rather last minute.
I went to take a look at my lab notes for tomorrow's C++ programming lab lesson. Hopefully I can motivate myself to do well in this module as I did with the previous one where I got my first ever High Distinction. Got the Visual Studio Express program installed and maybe I will try try abit first before going down to school tomorrow.
To end off the evening, my mom treated us to some good stuff. I think after the lemon pie, I wanna try my hand at making this the next time. I may not have the most happening life but at least I get nice stuff to eat.

Well today was a busy day for me. Went to church in the morning to complete the series of 3 messages for the Easter Conference. Good stuff, learnt some new stuff from the book of John, some new insights to why the last part was written this way.
Next off was to the potluck lunch thingy at Herbert's place. A Big Thank You again for hosting this little lunch. And I must say, the food was definitely more than enough, not forgetting the rum coke and rum coffee I had. And as part of project pimp my kenneth, Elliott and Herbert seem to have found a girl who meets my criteria. And why do I have a bad feeling about this... lols...
Than its off to help my cousin fix his pc. Rather weird problem though, first time I see the pc start and stop and start and stop and the whole cycle continues. Decided to bring the whole thing home to run more test. After 2 hours to testing using the elimination method, I concluded the motherboard is the culprit. Going down to SLS to try and change it since its was purchased on the 1st.

PC was rather sluggish so decided its time for a reformat. And only after I started the process did I remember I forgot to backup some stuff. Oh well...

Well today is Good Friday and had a series of 2 messages today with the last one on Easter Sunday itself. Will not comment much as I do not want to turn this post into another sermon.
Two things that caught my attention was the speaker talking about when he was younger, he would have friends going to church to find girlfriends becos it seems the christian girls are nicer and you have parents telling their daughters to find christian guys cos they will make good husbands. Well so where does that leave me? lols...
But more importantly I was reminded that being nice is not a bad thing. Sure it means potentially ending up last in most if not all the situations. But there is a reason why I am "nice" because of the way I was brought up and what I believe in.
So I guess while its gonna hurt me in some ways to be nice, I can take comfort that there is a reason to be nice.
Got a "potluck" lunch thingy at Herbert's house on sunday. Usually I would get the drinks but this time I decided to be a bit more adventurous and try my hand at making something. And having liked the lemon pie that my sister made the last time, I decided to learn how to make it.

Well finally got my results today. Must say I am rather satisfied with them.
High Distinction for my Interacting Systems module which I should be getting as I have been performing quite well for that module in terms of assignments and test. Could have done better though as I got 85 which just hit the High Distinction marks. Guess the reason for not getting higher is due to one of my assignments which I got only a credit. That means if I did better, could I have hit 90? Oh well...
A Credit for my Software Development module which I am ok with. Sure I failed the first test and to be able to bounce back to get a credit is not bad. But I got 67 and to get credit must get 65. Which means if I failed to perform well for my assignments I could have ended up with a pass. Well must make sure I buck up even more for the next 2 modules.
Well what's done is done liaos. So I guess I should learn from the mistakes and strive to do even better next term. Well until anything happens, my only aim is to do well. Nothing else to strive for anyway... lols...
Ok that's about it for today. Other than I finally completed Company of Heroes and am moving onto Warhammer 40K Dawn of War 7 Winter Assault...
Today was my 2nd day at school. Lecturer looks like a high flyer. A*Star researcher, IDA consultant and doing his PHD now. And with the amount of assignments, lab test and homework in the form of tutorials, I am starting to get worried. Add the other module and the fact I got the same lecturer where assignment requirements can change last minute, I got a feeling there goes my social life. If I got any in the first place.
Next school day is satuday. Sianz, 0900 - 1200 than its 1400 - 1700. Effectively there goes my whole saturday. After that its go back and chiong whatever dateline liaos. And for today's module, datelines are on mondays. Which mean there goes my sunday unless by some miracle I can finish everything early.
And here I am thinking of maybe its time to start looking for an other half. Well I guess life has other plans... Where got time left for other things liaos...
Either way, hopefully I can motivate myself again for this term. Need to start the engine going soon...

Maintenance wise, I am a student so yeah students are generally poor people. Projects and assignments wanna kill me liaos, no time to work part time. And yeah I can drive but no money to pay for petrol or parking. Well not yet anyway.
Character wise, well as long as get along can liaos loh. Of cos things like values and believes count. Must be realistic and fair. And must be the type that I can bring home for approval by my parents who are rather conservative and old fashion. Must be ok with Dogs as well cos Kenny also lives in my house.
And lastly must also be Christian. This one very the important to me.
So yeah if you can find someone who fits these things than let me know...
