Back to 2001 when this single was released. Not much is known about the song or why it was originally written. Or at least when I searched on wikipedia. Do let me know if you know the reason. Although I can guess it can be about a relationship that did not turn out right.

Anyway just to round up the week, went for dinner on friday with the usual people, namely charlene, francis and elliott. Had dinner at that jap place at marina with the really nice ice-cream. Tried the chocolate drink with soft ice cream this time. Good stuff I must say.

Saturday was spent doing up my tutorial and lab task and getting my pc back to operational status. While its now operational, its not yet at 100%. Hope to slowly build back by end of june.

Today(sunday) was spent watching Pirates 3. Good show, and not bad for a $9.50 ticket as it was quite long. Stayed back for the extra ending after the credits as usual. Although the show tried to squeeze too much into one show and there were some parts which could have been done better, it was ok overall.

Well next week is gonna be packed with studying, studying and more studying as my exams are coming. Also it means I am gonna be one more step closer to reaching 1/4 of a century old. Haiz... age is catching up with me. And of cos the PC show. As much as I want a new 20" wide screen Dell LCD monitor, I wish my current one will still survive until I start work so I can get the 22" one when I give my pc another overhaul...

Well thats about it tonight. Gonna sleep early so I can go for a morning jog tomorrow.

Back to some retro hits again. This time a 2001 hit from Utada Hikaru. This is a song that was changed last minute when she found out that a school girl named Reina Yamashita died during a stabbing rampage. Reina recently won a essay writing competition where she wrote about becoming a singer just like Utada. Thus the song "Distance" which was originally written went for a make over and became the song "Final Distance"

Interestingly enough, this song was incorporated into the high school music textbooks in Japan starting in the spring semester of 2001.According to the publisher of arts in education, the song was chosen because it is closely familiar with high school students.

Well just a little update, my PC and laptop was out of action as I decided to give them a full clean out after a messy 2 terms in school. Installing stuff here and there for work greatly slowed my system down. Plus I had alot of corrupted files here and there. Thus both PC and Laptop hard disk is now clean. Means I gotta build back my mp3 collection as well. Started with importing from my Ayumi's Secret and Utada's single's collection. Gonna head over to HMV later to see if I can get hold of Ultra Blue and the OST of A Walk To Remember.

Ok a change in the usual retro songs. This is the newest hit single from Maroon 5.
The song has two meanings. In short, one is about how the song writer feels about the US involvement in the Iraq war. Next is about his own past relationship. The lyrics will explain the rest.

Well its been a crazy past few days. From despair that I might not be able to complete my assignment to the realization that google is your best friend. I almost forgot I gave up being nice and decided that all is fair in love and war and might I add: studies.

So as of now, version 1.0 of assignment 3 is done. Will do some code clean up and comments adding over the next few days. Taking my time cos the dateline is on the 31st. And yes I will still help people, of cos not to the extent of giving them the answers. And of cos not to people who expect me to spoon feed as well.

Most prob will also try to add some extras when I get the time and feel like it. Now hope I can clear my remaining lab task and tutorial by this week than its pirates 3 over the weekend for me.

Another retro hit that I happen to chanced on. Well this one has a special place in my heart as it sometimes reminds me of things that happen to me and the people around me. Sometimes I wonder how can people be so blind to the people around them...

Well my last assignment for the term is out and its a killer one...
No more just input and output from the keyboard, now I gotta convert a picture from one format to another. While its an easy format from the first look, further testing shows its not as easy as it seems.

Well this is just the thing I am looking for I guess...
Its a degree program, if I cannot even handle this, how to be worthy of my degree?

Sianz hit another wall in my SQL assignment. Hope I can clear it asap sia, expecting a killer C++ programming assignment soon.

Other than that, its been another borring assignment filled past week for me.
Only noticable thing was the fact that I won tickets to the "NEXT" premier on wednesday. Rather last minute thing where I got a call from GameAXIS saying I won the tickets and the show was in 2 hours time.

It with a heavy heart that I found out that 2 NSFs lost their lives while overseas for training recently. 2 young men, one who has a place in the local university while the other who will be ORDing at the end of the year.

And once again lives are lost due to the lack of interest by the people high up there who cant be bothered with the people below them. Upgrading their fighter jets dun make a different to them anyway be now or later. But to the pilots and these 2 young men who have their lives ahead of them it mattered the most. To be bias, the pilots are doing this as their career. Risk like this are part of their jobs.

Yet to the 2 young men who earns about $450 ~ $800 considering their rank and vocation, is it worth it?

Yes its worth it to protect the country and if losing your life means the safety of your loved one that it is well worth every blood shed. But in this case, its all cos some people just cannot bothered until something happens.

I usually dun like to use strong words but WHAT THE F@#$~! This is pure crap lah. I do hope the people responsible will get nightmares each night unable to face the fact that they have caused the lives of two young men who have their lives ahead of them just because they could not be bothered.

Screw them. A bit direct and harsh but as a fellow singaporean who served his time as well, I can't help but feel for them. Innocent lives lost like that.

My heart goes out to the families of the 2 servicemen and the those recovering from their injuries from the incident. Its no accident cos it could have been prevented.

Anyway am just taking a break after debuging my c++ programming assignment and going through my lecture slides for my database test tomorrow. And I though I could relax abit over the weekends... until the lecturer had to drop the bombshell on us in class yesterday.

Came home straight from church to start my revision early. Decided to take some pics cos was rather bored after studying for some time... I mean it is sunday after all...

This Is SINGAPORE~!

Or rather what it will look like in the upcoming movie Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End or Pirates 3 in short for those of us who dun like to say the full name.
Yup gave up watching Spiderman 3 as I am still in the on going war with SQL and C++. Lost the battle last night but I will win war.

Anyway back to the movie, CommingSoon.Net had a nice write up about the set which will be used for the movie. And interestingly enough, the set used to be the penguin's lair in one of the BATMAN movies.

I have found the code quality, at least in terms of security, to be much better overall in Vista than Mac OS X 10.4. It is obvious from observing affected components in security patches that Microsoft’s Security Development Lifecycle (SDL) has resulted in fewer vulnerabilities in newly-written code. I hope that more software vendors follow their lead in developing proactive software security development methodologies.

A good break is what I need...

Well its been a good day of rest today. In fact since yesterday afternoon once all my assignment have been handed up my brain went into sleep mode liaos. Its been one crazy crazy week of assignment rushing. Although the next one was out, my classmates and I decided to take a break this labour day and take a break.

Well it was my moms birthday on monday and we went to Azabu Sabo to have dinner at Marina Square. The japanese restaurant where they sell ice cream outside as well. Order the sukiyaki beef bento set as it came with the least vegetables and I have not had nice beef for some time liaos. Dessert was something interesting. The ice cream there is suppose to be special as its called "Hokkaido Ice Cream". Suppose to be made with some special technique which orginated from Hokkaido in Japan. You can read more about it here What made my selection of dessert special was that its special baked sweet potato with the ice cream. Which means the ice cream actually melts while on the sweet potato but yet still stays in shape as the bowl is cold. More pics later.

Today was a rest/slack/enjoyment day for me. Allowed myself to stay up to watch the Newcastle vs Reading match @ 2.54am in the morning. Well I wun comment much on the match as once again the Newcastle defense let everyone down. Of cos, Reading played well and deserved the win. One positive thing to mention though, it was good to see michael owen play the full 90 mins. Sure he is still abit raw after being out for so long, but the problems that he caused the Reading defense is a good sign of things to come.

Slept at 5am after the match and woke up rather late in the afternoon. But it felt good to sleep so long without any worries. Hehe... Rest of the afternoon,evening and night was spent playing computer games. Its good to be able to sit back and enjoy a good game. Also banned myself from jogging today. Rest day means full rest day.

Well the day is about to end. Gonna finish this blog post up, check the forums and get some sleep. Than its back to work again with my programming assignment due to be out later in class. Have not taken a look at the recently released database assignment but I am sure I can do it.
